UniverseIndie is a brand new, easy-to-use search engine and central location for indie authors to list their books for free. While this site is still in its infancy, this is a cool idea that could really be a great thing, and it’s growing daily.
In being the MacGyver of the publishing world, I am always looking for free and cheap methods to market my books along the way, and I also share the knowledge with those who may be interested. The developer came by this blog and dropped me a note to tell me about the site.
So naturally I went to check it out. I was pretty impressed. The developer, Peter, is also an indie author as well so he knows the challenge about getting the work “out there” and connecting with readers. It is also his means to give back to the community.
When you sign up, you add your books and link to your Amazon page. Now they have added the capacity to link to your Smashwords page. Books are categorized, so pick the best fit for your book even if it incorporates multiple genres (a lot of indie books do this!).
UniverseIndie also promotes authors through its social media channels and authors cross promote one another as well as UniverseIndie. UniverseIndie also sends out a newsletter from time to time.
Who All is Needed?
One of the main players who are needed most are authors. The more the merrier.
Probably first and foremost, readers are needed. They are biggest players about the whole gambit. Everything authors do (or develop) is to connect with readers. Readers are everywhere but yet so hard to reach sometimes. The greatest paradox.
Last, but not least, sponsors. If you have a product or service or what not you can contact UniverseIndie if you would like to become a sponsor. This blog (NAG) and Soaring Eagle Publicity joined the ranks, and cross promotion is the bread and butter of the indie author and service world!
Everyone working together will definitely help get the word out.
